I just remembered there is a building here and it's supposed to be like a bed and breakfast, I guess for hunters. Haven't heard of anyone there and I never see anyone there.
Hopefully, wherever the hunting is here, if any, is away from the people and animals. I don't need another dog killed by a hunter thinking it was a deer.

Well we completed the walls for the second floor. Steve Worrell is going to roof the house next week. So, we are all dried in. We are really tired but very satisfied with ourselves and the work we did. Well, we went to have that hamburger on Nov. 1 and the place was closed - no water. They have reopened and we went last night to have the hamburger. Yum Yum! We are headed back to Galveston now after a quick stop in Riudoso. We will be back in May. Hope to see you all then.
Bob and Bev
By the way, there is no hunting in Timberon, but in the surrounding National Forest deer are not safe. However, all the housing rentals are full of hunters during that time.

Greetings!
Our house is SOLD! We are visiting Timberon around the 4th of July (09) to purchase a home. We are so excited. I have had a busy year, however have read the posts often on this forum. Every one seems so happy to be in NM, I am sure we will be. So looking forward to this move. I can hardly wait to meet my new Timberon neighbors. We should be permanent residents by the 1st week in Aug. See ya all soon!

Please while you're here, get in contact with me or Chilegal. Send us a message or continue posting and we can get you started up here meeting people, etc.

Thank you Cheryl, I will. Will have more info soon. Our trip next week will be a short one. We need to find a place, then I need to get busy. Haven't moved in 33 years. Lots to do. Looking forward to meeting all.

Bterrib, please come down to the 4th celebration by the lodge. Ask any of the vendors or anyone on the committee(we have badges) where Jane is. I have a booth down near the blacksmith. I can point you out to many on city-data. Where is your house that you are buying?

Thank you, Jane. Looks like we are leaving here early on the 4th. My husband (Manuel) has to work Fri. night. We should be in Alamogordo by dark. We don't have a house there yet,(Timberon) thats why we making the trip. We will be meeting with Michele from the local real estate store. We just like the zip code. Im 99% sure we need to be out of this house by the end of July. We should be iin Timberon Sunday.

Does anyone know the quickest way from Artesia to Timberon? We live in West Texas and own a place on pawhuska, been driving to cloudcroft and then driving in on the new road, but I remember when I was younger taking an exit off HWy82 with my grandpa before I get to mayhill and then dirt road to timberon. I would love to know an update on those road conditions (dirt, pavement, hard to follow?) if it will save me time. Also would love to meet some people, what does everyone do? Is the pool back in service? Also any other west texas people on here? Thanks for the help.

I'm a native West Texan who now lives in Alamogordo. Timberon is new to me, so I can't help you with the roads--I've only been up there once. I'm staying on the new one, LOL!!
Chilegal and Songinthewind can fill you in on the backroads.

You are referring to the turnoff at Mayhill which is Hwy? 130 which then takes you to Hwy? 24 to Weed and Sacramento. From there you can take Scott Able road maybe 15 - 20 miles, all dirt, to the paved road (6563) 5 miles north of Timberon. We took it in our PT Cruiser about 6 months ago and not too bad. But we have had some rain lately and I would not recommend it at this time.
