Timberon Get Together
HI All, We are planning on a supper at the High Country Lounge on July 2nd at 6 pm. This is a pay your own supper, but good times to meet all. If you have company, bring them along.
Let me know if you are coming so I can let them know how many tables we need. So far I am counting 8-10, but lets have more, it will be fun to meet everyone.

Timberon Get Together The Kid
Of all the Roads that ive traveled in New Mexico ive never been to Timberon but always wanted to Take that Drive from Alamogordo to Roswell Through there i guess it comes out in Carlsbad? Wondering how long a Drive that would be? I probably wouldnt be able to Attend July 2nd but hopefully one of these days all these good people on here could meet each other someday and have a get together on talks about N.M. and their Talents and Skills. Ive been playing Guitar and Singing since Age 5 and now 58 y.o. male who plays all kinds of Music EXCEPT Rap or Opera. Im a One Man Band and Consider Myself as GOOD or BETTER then the BEST. I havent made a Professional CD yet because i wanted to Become a Hermit. Also want to Write a book about the Heberer Lorius Case or about the Mountains of New Mexico. Maybe someday you will hear me at one of the Casinos or maybe ill throw a Concert at one of your Gatherings and you can be the Judge on how good i am. I do all kinds of Immitations like Elvis, Johnny Cash, Marty Robbins plus Spanish and Christian and Folk and Some Rock etc. and like to take number one hits from the Past and try to make them better if possible on some of them. It took me about 43 years to develop a Technique of Guitar Playing where i play Bass, Lead and Rhythm at the same time on the Guitar.......... Are there any Musicians on here? pintada kid @ webtv.net

All are welcome, would like to see as many as we can. And if this works out, maybe we can plan on something this winter.
I know Apache Flats and DH will be there, saw them yesterday. And Pipeweld will be in town, so I am sure he will be there along with Cheryl and Charlie, Kent and I.

Not a musician but I do goof around drumming and tamborineing if that's a word. Mostly for drum circles and rain dances.
Like to have fun with instruments.

Pintada Kid: I've been a professional musician since 1966, playing electric bass. I switcherd to fretless in 1971 and never looked back. I also play tuba professionally (traditional jazz) and bass trombone and contrabass clarinet for my own pleasure (certainly not the neighbours'). My ambition has always been to be able to play all the low-pitched instruments competently. I have about 15 instruments (including a drum set).

Timberon Get Together
I also teach on the Guitar and a little bit of Piano and Voice and know lots about the History of N.M. One Book that is a Must to Read is .... North From Mexico by Carey McWilliams it tells the True History of the Southwest and the Contributions the Spanish Brought to the Americas like Horses and Livestock and Plants and Vegetables and tools and mining and farming and Ranching and irrigation ideas etc. The book tells about the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo signed in 1848 where Mexico was paid 10 million Dollars for over half a Million Square miles of Land and then we discovered Gold in California in 1849. The book talks about the Los Angeles Riots in the 50s. When you get through reading this book you will know more about the Spanish and the Mexicans then they know about their History. The book talks about an Open Season on Mexicans back in the 1800s even the Texas Rangers could shoot them on Sight. Todays Westerns and Media dont Portray the True History of the Southwest. pintada kid at webtv.net

I will come up if I can find someone to ride with me who knows the road from the turnoff to Timberon from Cloudcroft . I'm not driving the last part of the Timberon road after dark--I've been on it once in the daytime, and I won't drive it after dark at this point. Deer, elk...and no cell service!!

Get on 6563 and go 3 miles. Stay on that road for the next 25 or so miles and you'll run right into Timberon.
The wildlife is around but as long as you're doing the speedlimit and watching out, you have nothing to worry about.
Ah, cmon' Cathy, you can live without a cell phone for a day.
