Living in Dog Canyon
I am looking at land in Dog Canyon.Anyone live there or know much about the area? I have heard there are many underground springs and water is not a problem. Also, how does one check the water supply on land for sale?
Thanks in advance!

I currently live in the Northwoods of Wisconsin and am contemplating a move to New Mexico and you make it sound WONDERFULL!!!
I am tired of winters (50 below) and summers (90 and HUMID) and mosquitoes and ticks and deer running out in front of your car and thousands of tourists who converge on holiday weekends.
A nice, boring, quiet desert sounds fantastic.

Not everybody wants to be right in the middle of a big city with nightlife and all that. Some of us have already had enough of the nightlife, maybe getting to retirement age and like the idea of peace and quiet, maybe hear coyotes howling at night instead of the thump, thump, thump of the bass coming out of the night club down on the corner.
I'm curious where Dog Canyon is. Google Maps gives me a " middle of nowhere" north of Grand Canyon. That can't be it since I doubt you can build there, and I don't even see any roads. So where is it?

I know nothing about Dog Canyon, but for water questions I'd talk to neighbors (if there are any) and check with the County Clerk 's office to see if you can drill a well and with what restrictions. For all I know you may not even own the water under the property. Others please correct me.

If what you are looking for is nice, quiet boring desert, you are on the right track. Why not go all the way and look for some property in Oro Grande?

I doubt if hersheys_mom10 will ever even check back. The original post was from over a year ago and no one touched it till today.

Oh well. Actually due to this thread I might go visit Alamogordo and see that park mentioned in this thread. It sounds pretty and that looks like a campground at the end of the road.
What does Alamogordo mean? Fat something?
