Default N.M. Native American Cookbooks

Howdy, all. I've had a request from a reader of my blog and I am naturally turning to the best experts I know on life in New Mexico. She is looking for a really good cookbook with Native American recipes, with an emphasis on the southwest, especially New Mexico. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks for your help!

Solidwood is on a distinguished road
Google it. I am not aware of any such books. That's all I can recommend.

Amazon has a number of books on Native American cooking....I do recognize some of the authors, even though I've never bought such a book myself, so I don't have any recommendations.

Well, I'm a librarian and am aware of all the ways to find books on whatever subject. I was just hoping that there were some personal recommendations out there.

I found some at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center in Alb. Bought a wee pamphlet type one, looks like one of those self produced or fundraiser copies. I'll look when I get home and see what the title is, if you'd like.

Hmmm. I need to look for one.

I have a whole stack of great Santa Fe/New Mexican cookbooks, but none that is strictly native American, though.

I do have some recipes - Fry bread and Pueblo Horno bread recipes - that I have been using for years that are easy and reliable. Fry bread is a staple around our house with soups and chili in the winter.

Please pass along your Fry Bread recipe. I lived in Arizona when I was a child and an older Navajo lady that lived close to us would make us Navajo Tacos, and they were awesome!! I have been craving them for some time now, but can't figure out how to make the fry bread lol.
