Smile New Mexico Poetry anyone?

Hi,
Here's a poem that I'd like to share, if it's ok. Hope someone out there will enjoy it and take it to heart. I love my home state...so here's to you.
Rebecca ~ Thanks.

"Mother New Mexico"

As you walk through my deserts and feel the warmth of the sun,
I will offer you my sage a sweet smelling scent.

As you trail my mountains to see my lush beauty from on high,
I will summon the Elk and Eagle before your eyes.

As my mountain breeze cools your skin,
I will quench your thirst with my cold crisp streams.

As your lips taste the fruits that I bear,
I will give abundant joy to your heart.

As you lay your body to rest upon my white sands,
I will sing to you...

"Enjoy me, enjoy me for I am vast with land,
and much of me still untouched by man.
Care for me as I do for you for you need me,
Oh, see how you need me."

Thank you Towanda, I'm glad you like it. Hope you all will share a poem or two also. Besides being one of the most beautifully diverse places to live, New Mexico is also a very inspirational place to live. A couple of evenings ago while I was in my garden, I was so breathtaken by our sunset, it was a deep clay colored sunset, but to the North there was a rolling storm and a clear blue sky to the South. It was awesome...it was so beautiful all around...just splendid. I need a good camera!

Default Terra Sol and New Mexico

Thanks for sharing your Poem on New Mexico Terra Sol. I can tell that you love New Mexico very much and appreaciate its Beauty. New Mexico has the Best Sunsets in the World according to Weather Forecasters and over half of N.M. is mountains and Forests. I live in the center of N.M. and love exploring the Whole State and its highways and backroads. If i ever took a vacation it would be exploring the Southwest and getting to know its Wonderful people which are everywhere in N.M.everywhere i go people wave. pintada kid at webtv.net

Pintada Kid ~ You are so right about people waving at each other.

This is the first place I have ever lived where people actually wave at you when they pass you on the road. I love it!!!

TerraSol, absolutely beautiful! Pintada Kid, I work with a young man from New Jersey who says one of the hardest things for him to get used to was people waving at him all the time and strangers engaging him in conversation while standing in lines! Apparently, that's not how things are done in Jersey.

Thank you for the compliment I am woman!

It's sooo true about the waving. When you see a perfect stranger waving at you, or saying 'good morning' as they pass on by, know that its from a true blue New Mexican...whether born here or not! I was raised to greet folks whether they're passing by or you're entering an office/dr's office/hair salon or any kind of a setting where you're going to be close to another person. I'm always amazed of how sometimes folks just simply choose to ignore eachother and don't even give just a simple hi. Whether I get a response or not I always like to say hello, 'cause I think its just bad manners not to...and I can hear my mom's voice telling me, "don't be rude say hello!". However, I do see animals pass right by eachother without saying anything...hmm what's up with that?

Default Waving in New Mexico

If you live in a Small towns in New Mexico you know that Waving is important because if you dont wave at your friends they think your mad at them so actually you look for cars that belong to friends so lots of times you spend your time waving everywhere you go. DAnger a women alone in N.M. can be overly Friendly in her Waving and it could cause trouble especially if your out in the Middle of Nowhere. A small little Wave can be sufficent and not inviting in some cases but a huge wave and Smile might give the wrong impression. Most people are Friendly everywhere you go and like to talk to outsiders and give them traveling information and know where out of staters are from. There are good and bad people out there learn to watch your back anywhere you go not just from Wild animals but people too. pintada kid at webtv.net
