Old man's advice - Kid, concentrate on the studies and stay away from booze and broads until you can afford the time and money. Also both are addictive and can stick with you for a long time.

Amen brother. Both are like firearms- should be approached with respect and after you have received proper training

Las Vegas Women
My Philosophy is if I think they are Super Beautiful their Husbands or Half Dozen Boyfriends probably think so too. So Approach with Caution. But even the Ugly ones can get you in trouble. KID TIP.... Heres an idea if you go riding in her car and all the Guys wave at her everywhere you go or Honk you might have to Renegotiate your Contract with her. A WOMEN IS LIKE A GUITAR EACH ONE FEELS DIFFERENT, PLAYS DIFFERENT,SOUNDS DIFFERENT. pintada kid at webtv.net

Hope you made it to Vegas safely. I can't believe we hit the books again on Monday. Summer is never quite long enough.

Yes I got here safely and without much fuss. But I really don't like it out here and am terribly homesick. I mean if I am gonna be so far away from home and family it better be worth something.. right ? I don't know .. think I am just gonna get through this semester somehow and then look for alternatives.

California to Las Vegas
Its like everything else when a person moves you hate it at first because its different but ones you get to know the area you start liking it more and more. When i was there in the Early 70s it was rough but after i found my way around i started liking it. If you dont have a Car it might not be much Fun i would think but get you a Bike and A GOOD LOCK. Today i love visiting Las Vegas and the Stores and the Flea Market on Weekends and meeting people and yard Sales and just exploring the Mountain Roads. I use to like to go to the Ice Skating Rink Pond there at the Montezuma Castle and get into the hot Baths there years ago. Remember eating with all the Monks with Brown Robes and we sat down on these huge long tables and they brought us a wooden bowl and a spoon to eat some Stew. That was around 1967 and a Catholic Priest introduced me to all these Friendly Monks at the Montezuma Castle. Use to love going there in the Early 70s and playing my Guitar at night at the Pond by then the Monks werent at the Castle anymore or i didnt see them again. pintada kid at webtv.net

Stuck in Vegas
Look at Las Vegas as a Learning Experience Dude if your Stuck there maybe its meant to be. When you get a Lemon Make Lemonade and it might be what you are suppose to do is be here and you dont even know it. Take the Time to Learn Spanish and explore and learn about the area at least for a few months. The Park and the Rialto Restaurant one of the Best in Las Vegas with Mexican food you might have to wait in line but theres some good Mexican Food Restaurants in Las Vegas and the People are Very Friendly but they dont take any Bulsht from anyone. If you want to tell us why you came here in the First place we might be able to help as to the place you should be here in the Land of Enchantment. What are you use to doing Santa Fe is only an hour away? Have you lived in California all your life? TIP Lets just say that i wish i was in your Shoes Starting College and my whole life ahead of me. I would say if you can last here it will be a Great Accomplishment for you and you will have a learning experience you will never Forget and i feel it will all be in a positive way for you. Just Hang in there. pintada kid at webtv.net

Fanjio:
Pintada Kid brings up an interesting point. Of all the colleges etc. in the U.S. what made you choose this one?
What are you taking this semester? What are you career goals?
New Mexico is a wonderful state and even if you don't have a auto etc., I am sure you will make some friends and go visit all the great things even within a 100 miles.
UNM in Albuquerque is a start to visit as well as going down to old town on Central Ave.
It is very difficult I am sure to be away from home...if you have not traveled much.
My daughter years ago had a tough time...homesick...for about 2 months..then well that changed after meeting friends and having to study a lot.
Like Pintada Kid said, "When you get a Lemon Make Lemonade".
Happy trails,
HW
