I recognize a few of the names from reading a couple of "ghost town" books. Some were just water and coal stops on the Santa Fe railroad. Others are family towns in the remnants of the Spanish land grants. Next trip we will visit a couple of towns like Winston and Chloride.

Lake Valley is one of the coolest ghost towns you could want to visit -- near Deming/Las Cruces.

Fort Seldon is nice, not really a ghost town but a ghost fort, the Buffalo soldiers spent time there so it's interesting as far as the history. Also near Las Cruces.
