Here is great okra dish my grandmother made:

Fry 1 lb. of bacon, set aside, and crumble.

In the grease from the bacon, fry up a mess (iron skillet full) of okra. You can roll the okra in corn meal before frying or not, either way it turns out well.

When okra is almost done, add a chopped red onion and a large chopped garden-fresh tomato to the skillet. Add the crumbled bacon.

Delicious served with beans and rice.
