Default Anybody Using a heat pump for heating?

I am thinking of putting in refrigerated air in my home in Alamogordo and am wondering if I should consider a heat pump so I can use it for heating also. Does anyone have experience with a heat pump in this area. Electricity is expensive but heat pumps are suppose to be super efficient. Thanks for any help you can give.

Pup, I think it could work well. If I lived in Alamo I would go with refrigerated air, and I think that over time, a heat pump will be cheaper than gas heat. I say that because gas prices along with oil prices are on a long, uphill climb, whereas IMO electricity prices will climb more moderately.

A heat pump becomes less efficient when it gets really cold, but that shouldn't be a big problem in Alamo...
