Keep in mind that it's a small town of 25,000 to 30,000 so not alot of options but i found you some info and photo's (Not mine). Very hardcore desert (Chihuahuan) and there is the Pecos River that flows thru town and Brantley Reservoir just north in which you can Water/Jet Ski.

do they have any sports there..bowling ...adult softball? I don't have any specific information regarding adult sports. There is a bowling alley and and they were building a sporting complex on West Lea Street before I moved a couple of years ago. Check out the on-line version of the Carlsbad newspaper, currentargusdot com. They usually have info on what is happening around town. what are the ares around it like lakewood..artesia...loving...malaga...white city? The areas mentioned are all small. Most are mainly middle of nowhere type communities. Artesia is a small city and has a K-Mart/Wal-Mart and a couple of grocery stores, an oil refinery and at least one dairy feedlot. White's City was an out of date tourist area at the entrance to the Carlsbad Caverns. It was recently sold. Loving is a small town that seems like an extension of Carlsbad. There isn't much there. I always heard Malaga in connection with the oil fields. Good schools any thing would be great! My only experience with the Carlsbad schools was ECEC for the kindergartners. It was great. There are a few elementary schools in town. Everyone seemed to have their favorite. There are two junior highs. One has a bad reputation and the other one is considered to be much better. Everyone goes to the same high school. Carlsbad is physically, very isolated. You'll see what I mean when you go to visit. In some ways, it's good, but in a lot of ways it's bad. There is a lot of public land in the area. Do a search on this forum for some opinions on Carlsbad. A lot of things have already been said. It's better to find out about it before you move. |
