Default Ruidoso

What a charming place! I was able to escape the barren desert of Tucson and spend the Labor Day weekend in the misty mountains of Ruidoso. The people were so friendly. Everyone waved and said "hello." Some of them started up conversations. How refreshing! Then, I realized why? Probably 95% of the people there were Texans. Where I live currently, most of the people are rude(very cliquey). They will let a door slam without even looking to see if anyone is behind them. If you say "hello" to stranger, they look at you like there is something wrong with you. The drive from Tucson to Ruidoso was incredible. The landscape was constantly changing. The mountains above Las Cruces looked like a painting. What amazing scenery! It was incredible driving through the mountain pass towards Ruidoso. Our cabin was steps from historic midtown Ruidoso. We could see and hear the Rio Ruidoso from our cabin. What a beautiful place! I think we will return for the Thanksgiving holiday. The locals were very nice, also. And, as if this wasn't enough, I won a thousand dollars at The Inn of the Mountain Gods. The only negative(not a biggie), was that the pizza at their Pizza Hut was awful.

Hopefully there will be snow on your Thanksgiving holiday... assuming you like snow.

Otherwise... hopefully there won't be snow on your Thanksgiving holiday.

If you were in Ruidoso over labor day, then most of the people you encountered were other people on vacation. Most people act friendlier when they are on vacation... including you, most likely.
