Whoo -hooo it worked!!! Here's the "little" bugger... So far, haven't spotted any family members. If I do and they are in the house, then they will be reunited in centipede heaven.

I told our neighbor about finding it and the first thing she said was "hope you found the second one... there is always two". TWO????????????? YIKES!!!! But we haven't found another one...yet!

Looks like a little Scolopendra polymorpha, but Im not 100% sure. If it is, that looks to be full sized. And the myth that there are always 2 is not true, they live solitary lives and arent communal.
I am almost scared to revive this thread!!! Since we havent had any rain, I have had any sightings. We need the rain BAD, but then they come out and about. Anyone seen any recently???
I've been all over the deserts of W Texas and NM for nearly 30 years. I've never seen a centipede, except in displays. I know they're around, just like scorpions, but for some reason, I've seen lots of scorpions over the years and even been stung by one. Burns like hell for a few minutes, but then fades out.
Interesting centipede trivia: they don't really bite. They stick their prey with a pair of poison claws.
