The dogs have to get used to it too and they also drink a lot more water.

LiquidPeppermint is on a distinguished road
It took me a good three to five months to get used to the altitude. The first week or two that I was here, I got winded walking through Wal-Mart. But, like everyone's said, drink a LOT of water.

Also, something that no one ever mentions: Beware when drinking anything carbonated. It fizzes differently at altitude, and it'll make you have a big ole' painful burp. Seriously. No joke. Stuff'll come out your nose.

Default Hydrate is right

Hi Hopefull,

We just got into Ruidoso from Minnesota, and I run at least 2 miles a day. Felt the same, bit of a headache and also short of breathe pretty quickly. A friend of ours in Zozo had good suggestions, take a couple aspirin and also try to drink more fluids, and that seems to work. She said it takes about 2 weeks for your red blood cells to compensate. Good luck, and hope you can make the transplant!

Thanks all, took your advice and walked with water only 1 mile today. The dogs still wanted more but they seemed content to just sniff around the house and eat all the nasty stuff that the Antelope drop. That's a whole different thread I think. Yuccckkkk ! ! What a beautiful sunset tonight.
