Los Alamos is beautiful! Great little city!

Espanola I know very little about, other than its heavily weighted on the hispanic side (of course that may not be the case).

Los Alamos tends to have its own reality distortion field. A bit more Californian than anywhere else in NM (wealth and the things that come with it). I like how much the town seems like it's trapped in the 1950's. The politics of the labs are the politics of the town and vice versa. If you don't like feeling like you don't have a say, don't move there without a position at the labs.

Española has (I believe) well over double the number of liquor licenses as allowed by law (but they're grandfathered in). Major drug problems, major alcohol problems. It's not like everybody there is a bad person; probably a very small minority. But it's #1 on my avoid list for NM. Hey, some town had to be there.

Well your wrong on the number of liquor licences, there is only 6 threw out the city, and your right not everybody is a bad person from there i mean most of my friends that graduated from espanola went to georgetown and duke, i decided to go to csu, but espanola is a safe city, EVHS is a nationaly ranked high school.. buddy you wont get shot, i will tell all the gang bangers to hide out just so you can pass by

Are crime stats are the same as los alamos btw.. same amount of everything except los alamos had more arson.
btw: espanola doesnt have drug problems, there in the neigboring communities like alcalde and velarde, not even chimayo is bad for drugs.. but of course if you tell someone its "dangerous" people tend to belive becuase the human mind is like a sponge.

Sure 39% of the citizens of Espanola work in LA, however.. we depend on our own help, no other cities help out espanola, except for its self.. the city has a great economy with lots of jobs.. however, the city council likes to spend all the city's money in one place... Espanola has one of the best economy's in the state.. its almost as good as LA's belive me i was working for the city for awhile back and i was suprised, but would never notice. Espanola just has corrupt politicos thats all.

One thing thats depressing about espanola is the schools, despite the fact that EVHS is one of americas best high schools, other schools in the EPS lack money even the high school, when i was there things were different.. now i just heard that the Espanola superintendent is the second highest paid in the state and ranks on the highest in the southwest, kinda sad that bribing him with money is the only way to get him out..

and as far as los Alamos goes, their high school has a worse drug problem than espanola's, three of my cousins who go to the school were shocked that the school was so bad, they thought it would be a great school with no problems, since most of the people in LA seem to think so...just beciase of the labs all of the city's secrets lay beneath a troubled town, so people dont be soooo fooled there is drugs everywhere not just in stereotyped Espanola..

You claim not to want to bash but you seem a little defensive about Espanola vs. Los Alamos. Do you have any suggestions to help the two communities get along?

I'm curious to hear more as I'm pursuing a job that's at LANL but was hoping Espanola would make a good middle-ground between Santa Fe and Los Alamos.

ABQJOURNAL: Española Health Officials Want Fewer Liquor Outlets
May want to notify the Journal then, which states 24 bars &/or package stores.

Sounds a little racist. Ok, now my take.

My parents lived in LA for years but ended up moving back to SF because of the prejudice in LA towards Hispanics.

I attended SFHS and went to a SF-LA basketball game in LA and the LA crowd had numerous signs with rude and insulting remarks towards the cheerleaders and their ethic persuasion.

LA is elitist, racist and prejudice. Unless you are white.
