That ol' mare has repaid me a million times over. I'm not gonna count the "Hey MA! Let's trot without stirrups- ya need to post- m'kay?" time. That hurt. lol

Moon Over Mountains
Me too! Love moons! Here's one taken yesterday, 1/8/09, over cibola n.f. from forest road 139.

Actually, the best moon we've (my other 1/2 and I ) have seen in new mexico was at luna (fitting name) campground, in the cibola n.f., full as it could be, in the middle of nowhere, with not aurora from city lights, was spectacular, you could see the crater features on the surface. what I wouldn't have given to have a camera or telescope that time.
This months moon is also known as the Hunters Moon, Blood Moon, Travel Moon and Dying Grass Moon.
This is the night I go out and howl.
Anyone else enjoy the moon or howling at it?

Very pretty. Thanks for posting it.
The full moon is coming again tomorrow (even though it looks full now, it will be at its fullest tomorrow Sat. Jan. 10)
This months full moon is also known as the Wolf Moon.
I've already started howling but most of my howling will be tomorrow.
Anyone else want to howl with me?

Song - I'll howl with ya, although I don't think you'll hear me all the way from Raton ! I do love the moon also. Why is it referred to as a 'Wolf Moon'?

I'm still learning my geography of NM and I know TorC is close by. I think it's about 4 hours or so from where I am. When the weather gets warmer, we're pulling out the motorcycle and explore a little bit. Dracul is moving there soon too.
That would be cool to be all together and howl, stir up something but for now we all need to pick a certain time and step outside and start howling.

We gotta set a time. Raton's in the northern part of NM isn't it? We'll have howling all over the state.
I have a datebook that has the full moons listed monthly and what they're called.
This one talks about how the Jan. wild winter wind howls so it's referred to as the Wolf Moon.

Aaaooooouuuu!
Yep, Raton is up at the end of I-25 and I can't believe how the wild wind is howling tonite ! It is gusting around 40 mph.
I'm game to howl - so long as nobody here at Whittington thinks I'm the real thing, or I don't attract something else

Instead of the song 'aaaooouuu, werewolves of London', we can start a new song called Aaaaaooouuu, Werewolves of New Mexico.
My wildside comes out. Geez, I'll never grow up.
aaaoooouuuu !!!!! aaaooouuuu!!!!
