Default A perfect night

What a great nite to howl. No wind up here, clear, cold, and just enough haze around the moon to make it look even more spectacular. That was fun, my dogs thought I'd lost my mind but my husband knows better.

Oh yeah, I feel much better now.
Just got off the phone with Chilegal. She and hubby howled too.
I think my dogs are used to me by now being goofy so they continue to lay around as I howl.
My s/o howled once and went back inside to watch football.

Moonset this morning.

Awesome.

I caught it Friday morning also. I looked from the Tramway
trail setting above a sea of city lights glowing brightly orange.

That moonset was even better even though it was less full
because it was pitch black.

That's one of the great things about walking to the bus at
5:30 am - seeing the moon and seeing what I can see because
of the moon's light.

Default Last one

I heard on the news this morning that this month's Full moon was "the Last of the Biggest and Brightest of 2009"

And like Song said it's called the "Wolf Moon", and also the "Old Moon".

I'd gone to the Barn yesterday and about an hour before sunset, I took off for the Hardware store.
On my way back to the Barn, before Sunset, I could see it, sliding above the horizon. Powderish pink and creamy, soft and huge, a large platter growing in size. Sun sliding down behind me.
Canadian geese flying across the Moon's face in formations, heading for the Lake. Hundreds flying, in the soft yet growing brighter light. I could watch it rising my whole drive back to the Barn. It was nearly pure dusk when I got back. Just a slimmest sliver of sunset left in the West, like a waving reddish ribbon, across the distant hill tops. By the time I arrived, it was a blue hued dusk in the bright moon light. I didn't even need a flashlight to unhook the gates.
There were only a couple of us left at the barn by that hour and it was feeding time. Dogs running and cats meowing for their dinner. Horses snorting and kicking their feed buckets for feed and more hay.
What a beautiful night to be at the Barn, at that hour. Crisp air and Moon light.

I hadn't stopped by the Forum to read this thread, before I went out there, and that's what makes this, sort of 'spooky'

It was peaceful and beautiful there in the cool air- and glow.

I walked to the highest hill point at the Farm and stood looking at that now white creamy light of the moon, you could see farrr away in it. It was HUGE over the hills.

And I lifted my head right there, and HOWLED! LOL

The other gals Stopped and looked and laughed Shook their heads

Dogs started barking, horses jumped and snorted and ran for the gate entrances, as if some new creature had moved in to the facility! A few cows bayed
I'm sure the other farmers around, wondered what the heck was going on

Boy! That was Fun! LOL

Wished we were going to have more like that one this year, but they say there won't be any, in comparison.
So I hope we All enjoy this one in particular, I know I did last night in the country

It was simply Glorious last night. I could see Soo far in the dark, driving back home too, last night

So tho I didn't know bout a "group" howl, I think we came purddy darned close to one! LOL

I do wish we could have just a few more like that, this year

Tia Dalma

It does feel good to howl.
I started this thread a couple of months ago, I believe and it appeared again the other day, thanks to HighDesertMutz.
I love it when we all howl.

Well, I would have gone out in the backyard and given it my best, but the close neighbors might have called the cops or something....

I stopped in my tracks while taking out the garbage tonight to admire the moon. It was big, yellow, and compelling.

One of the unspoken privileges of living in this part of the world.

It's actually the same from here in Texas. But I would love to see it over the beautiful New Mexican mountains rather than a bunch of streetlights.

From the other end of the country the recent Moonrise over our resident glacier (the lawn in summer) was really spectacular. I wanted to howl (hell- I always want to howl) but restrained my self 'cause the neighbors are way too close.
