I am taking a trip to north of Silver City. I am a semi-retired welder interested
purchasing 10-20 acres outside city limits. What kind of land cost per acre out that way?
Digging the portable welder from underneath the snow is the last winter in the North Woods of Maine I will do. What ever information you
can give me on relocating to this area will be greatly appreciated.

That is one reason I didn't move to Silver City and ended up outside Ruidoso. The land is prettier and we even got paved roads, and an expected well depth of ~250ft. 16 acres for $79k.

Prices certainly vary a lot though... but in general the prices around Silver City are not that cheap. Not like they were 20 years ago. It's the California effect I think. Ruidoso is still more influenced by rich Texans, so even though it is more affluent, the price of land is cheaper.
