Both are within 7 miles of Alamogordo, so the weather would be the same. I would prefer to live in LaLuz if I had the choice.

I would chose La Luz without hesitation over Boles Acres. Not sure, but I think La Luz might be more expensive.

Well La Luz is about 10 minutes north of Alamo and Boles Acres is about 10 minutes south so the weather is the same as Alamogordo. La Luz is more of an quasi artist colony with adobe houses and Boles Acres is more rustic with many Mobile Homes and some people having horses in corrals in their back yards there.
I don't know if you can rent in either town as both are very small like around 500 people each so i assume most who live in either town own their place they live in.

La Luz, by far. I am a fan of trees, which are hard to come by in the desert southwest. La Luz has lots of tree cover.
I lived behind La Luz in Laborceta Canyon, up in the mountains, for 6 months, and it was absolutely breathtaking.

I agree with mike0421 ....La Luz is amazing ....it has a cool vibe ...very green too ....weather is similiar to Alamogordo ...daytime high's slightly cooler ...nightime low's slightly warmer (exceptionally good cold air drainage)

Thanks to all of you who have helped me in my "where to live in NM". So far i have narrowed it to: Alamogordo, La Luz. I am still looking for places like La Luz. We are not rich by any means. All we are going to live on is diability and a pension. We would like to have doctors, and hospital some what near. It takes us 35 min where I live now, NH.

Have you also considered Tularosa Diablo....It''s about 15 minutes away from the Alamogordo Regional Hospital as it has around 3,000 people and they have a grocery store, health clinic, several Banks and other amenities for a small town there.

What 6/3 said. Tularosa is a nice small town with easy access to the mountains. Close to the conveniences and attractions of both Alamogordo and Ruidoso.
