IIRC may illegal immigrants pay coyote's good money to be escorted to the US because the feudal politics of many Latin American countries is too brutal to survive. I would prefer we establish a more efficient and cheaper way for these people to immigrate to the US. We need to stop the criminals not the folks trying to make a living.

I think many of us would agree with you on this, but the fact remains many of those crossing the boarder illegally come here to get our welfare, they do commit crimes, they do not learn English, they want everything we can give them and still want to fly their flags, want the best of both worlds and don't really love our country, they only love what we can give them: FREE.

People, for years have chosen to come to the land of the free, some did it illegally, maybe even some of our own families for all we know, but they didn't expect a handout, they worked for min wage, whatever that was, at the time, they learned how to be good Americans and eventually were proud to become citizens. This is not the case with many crossing the southern boarders today.

Your first paragraph is a myth. Your second paragraph is true.

Brian, I have a very good friend, who came to the United States from Europe about 20 years ago. She stated working for just slightly better than min wage and has since worked her way up the ladder. She is employed by a rather large firm in Dallas. After being here many years, marrying, buying a home, etc she is finally am American citizen and voted for the first time this month. Never did she depend on anyone to support her, nor did she expect a handout. When she came to our country she spoke English but with with a very heavy accent and did not have a good demand of our language, but she worked on this. Now she speaks with a very slight accent..

This is what I want to see from those who come to our country..

I know this is what you would like to see as well...

No, both her paragraphs are true.

I grew up 100 miles from the Texas-Mexico border, and I've seen this for years, but it's gotten much worse recently.

It's a huge slap in the face to people who have come legally through the proper channels.

Default Someone Explain ???

Why would Mexicans care to vote and collect benefits if it meant being found and losing their Slave Labor Jobs and being Seperated from their families? If they do use our Hospitals shouldnt we be Glad since they Plant And Raise and Harvest and Cook and Serve our Food and take care of our homes and kids. el pintada kid

I agree with some of your posts but I think you have tunnel vision and need to broaden your vision.

Difficult topic to find objectivity since all of you seem so emotionally charged. Such polemics! There is truth in what several of you assert and hyperbole as well. No incoming group arrives without baggage...never has, never will. I think our current state of decline changes the parameters a bit as well. America is very over extended and vulnerable these days; an overripe mango easy to pick. Incentives to meld into the greater culture are substantially reduced as a result.

But they do vote, that is the scary part and they collect benefits. No one or certainly mose are not saying every person from So of the border is a criminal or are on welfare. Most of us realize a workers program must be worked out, this doesn't mean, as a tax payer I want to support the entire world.

What is it about this you can't understand?
