Inn of the Mountain Gods. Why? The setting, and the view.

What a great post! I always wondered about the casino's in New Mexico.
I have been to the Casino's around Albq. I can't remember the names but one had huge arrows at the entrance. I really enjoy playing there. It was big, spacious and very clean. Great place.
Also, I have visited Hobb's Zia Park. It is ok, but very small. They make the best hamburgers in the Sport's Bar area.

Isleta and Sandia are my favs. Sandia has a great atmosphere. Plus exiting I-25 and going towards the casino is just a great site. Isleta has some good restaurants. For a quick stop we usually hit Route 66, Dancing Eagle and Sky City Casino. Now the Fire Rock Casino is about to open outside Gallup. We will probably check it out this weekend.

Any, where I Win!
Serously tho, Mountain Gods, the site is beautiful. But I rarely 'gamble'. I set a losing amount and if/when I hit it, I'm done
{I did enjoy being on the River boat casinos back home for the atmosphere and the fantastic food they had. Fancy or buffet....River boat 'music' too, luv a Banjo  }
I'm interested in Towanda's report on that new one. That's also supposed to be a Very pretty area.
Have a Good time and let us know!

Illinois Nita....along the Mississippi there were/are quite a few to pick from from Dubuque {Iowa} to St. Louis and on down to the gulf. Tho Dubuque's famed one is/was? the Silver? something, {can't remember right now, it's been a while to that one } a Modern ship.
Slick!
But I like the old time River boats much more. And love being on one at night and seeing the city lights from deck.
The nostalgia of it all I guess.
{I also had a long time ago relative killed while traveling from the east, on a river boat with the family 'fortune'. They'd sold the Dairy farm to move west, he never made it. They moved anyway, it was a much more difficult start in the west without him and the new land/money  Story is, they found his body floating in the river and No money with him. Supposedly sewn into the lining of his coat. Somewhere around St. Louis}
They go back and forth about letting them move or be docked, don't know he status now days. There are some that are just for Travel and tourists too. No casino. Beautiful. Still great.
But, the Casino ones are Great for an afternoon out with the girls too! LOL

I think you should write a book about the river boat sailing of your relative: sound like my kind of reading..
We did St Louis this summer but our favorite river boat gambling is Tunica Mississippi..
talking about Girls day out, this is one thing I miss so much about NM. There were 3 or 4 of us that would do our day out about every couple of months. We would start at Trader Joes in ABQ, then stop by Kohls, then to Sandia for about an hour or so and head home, stopping at Mimis for lunch or sometimes do lunch at the casino and spend a little extra time..
