La Luz, Alamogordo or Elephant Butte
I am looking at these 3 town to move to. I read about every town/city and have narrowed it down to La Luz, Alamogordo or Elephant Butte. Which place is good to live in. I would like input from everyone who has lived in these towns .
Climate 80' or 90' cool nights but not cold...

There is very little, if any, difference between La Luz and Alamogordo, temperature/weather-wise.
Nights can get a little cold in all places, 20 or below. The lowest in Alamogordo to this point has been 21, not particularly cold, IMHO.

Brrr. That seems cold to me, but it isn't for New Mexico. La Luz is just a hair colder than Alamo, isn't it?

Given that the town is only 6-7 miles away and only about 2-300 ft higher in elevation, not much difference...but maybe a hair..!
Of course, you know that the higher elevation canyons around here are another story!
The temps right now are the same in both places at 10am....51.
It's not very cold right now even in some of the more northern/higher elevation parts: (my page at Weather Underground)
ABQ: 46
SF: 40
CC: 47
Ruidoso 55
Timberon 51
Vadito 51
But Farmington is sort of chilly: 39
I would prefer Farmington's temps to Alamo's, but at least it's not HOT. So I'm happy, LOL!!

I noticed SF's temperature was only one degree warmer tha Farmington's, and presumably it was colder in Taos, Red River, etc. I'm surprised that Timberon was the same temperature as Alamo, but it's probably considerably cooler at night. (I'm a weather/climate freak, in case you hadn't noticed.)

I like to keep track of the weather, too...and also like to know the elevation!
For its altitude (7K+ ft), Timberon is really temperate.
If it were not so isolated, I'd be up there in a heartbeat all year-around. It really is a wonderful place, and I can see why people like it.
But...having to drive everywhere for everything is a real PITA to me. Cell service only in certain spots, no real grocery store, no cable broadband (DSL is available), et al.....I'm spoiled rotten, and like my amenities...!
Red River will be much colder, as it is so much higher and so much farther north.

I remeber following a snowplow out of Red River on October 16th one year! Winter doesn't fool around up there.
I hear you concerning Timberon. If I were much younger, I'd be more serious about the idea of actually living there, but I'm spoiled too, and medical care is a ways down the road. I don't think Alamogordo is quickly accessible from there, except perhaps by helicopter. But I love everything I've read about it. Maybe High Rolls would be a more practical alternative with a not much different climate, except for the expensive and not as readily available real estate.

No, it certainly doesn't....at 8600 ft base elevation, and 20 miles from the CO line....there is a real winter there!
I had considered going up and looking around, but the isolation there is made worse by only one main road out--and having to navigate that icy pass in the winter for basic supplies elsewere is not my idea of fun, LOL!! You would really have to plan ahead if you lived up there.
That is a summer trip for me. I've never been to RR, but it's on my list.
You might really like High Rolls or Mayhill.
Have you considered CC?
