In fact, I am a lot more active here -- walking, etc. so it is possible the pain has increased a little.
But that doesn't diminish my love for this area one single bit -- living here is still magical.

Towanda, exercise and walking are good for you.
It may be painful but in the long run, it will help you.
I am dealing with a hip injury now and the chiropractor said the worst thing I can do is be inactive. I have to agree with that. In the past couple of weeks, I've pumped it up more and it's helped. I'm surprised but it's actually helped.

We moved here from Maine and feel so much better. My husband does not complain about his shoulders aching like they did back east. I have an old shoulder injury and don't notice it hurting out here.

Exactly. That's why I do it.
I hope my post didn't imply that I think increased activity is a bad thing or that it was not good for a person. But in my case I do think it increases the pain a little. That's just life.

No it didn't imply that. I just thought I'd share what I was told. I figured if I exercised, (I couldn't at first) it would kill me but it's actually helped me on the road to recovery.

Exercise does help in many ways.
In 2004 my knees and back were so bad that I could hardly walk.
I tried everything (except pain medication which I don't do). Finally as a last resort I started a program in water aerobics, and the results were almost miraculous. So then I joined Curves. Before long I was going to Curves 6 days a week and the pool three times a week.
My walking was so bad the ladies at Curves said, "Don't limp like that when you leave here or people driving by will think our program caused it."
After weeks and then months, I had greatly reduced pain and could do almost anything.
I am a HUGE proponent of exercise; it has been like a miracle for me.
There will always be some pain in my lower back and neck and joints (caused I think by genetics and a long career in nursing), and I don't think moving here has changed that. But New Mexico has healed my soul and my spirit -- so who could ask for more than that?

That's what's important.
I wouldn't want to live in physical pain but having a sore spirit and soul would be worse.
Mine aren't as sore as it used to be. I definately need more healing in that direction.

Rattlesnake Fat Ladies
For all those Aches and Pains Rattlesnake Fat Works Great Ladies. They have the Rattlesnake roundups there in Alamogordo in the Spring. If you have High Blood Pressure eating a Rattlesnake Burger or rattlesnake meat can help your blood pressure. >>>>Reminds me of something on the news that Burger King is selling a spray to smell like a Big Whopper. If you live in Bear Country you better not buy that stuff its about 4 dollars a spray can. p.s. the rattlesnake fat really works but if you have cats they wont get near you when you use it. el pintada kid

We live in NM and I don't see any difference in my pain level. We moved from S Texas where it was hot and humid and both my hubby and I always say we can tell when the weather is going to change due to the weather.

True on the exercise - my back feels much better when I exercise regularly. But I also think the dryness helps too... My parents are in Eastern NM and riddled with arthritis (so I'm doomed) and they think they are a little better (except when its cold) than when they were in north-central TX and both say they can breathe much better here than TX.
