Pintada Kid was banned from further posting in this forum some time ago. Not sure if he (or she) has managed to sneak back in or not, but this thread had died some time ago.

I too recall seeing bear fat and having its weather forecasting abilities explained to me - and odd as it seems - that too was on a visit to someone in the Cloudcroft area. I guess it's a local "thing" to do.

Here in Ruidoso we have no shortage of bears in the summer, as Pintada mentioned at one point in this thread. They regularly dump the dumpsters - IOWs they are expert dumpster divers. And given the fact that most people bag their garbage in plastic sacks before depositing it in their nearby dumpster, the bears can drag out an entire bag and strew it everywhere as they retreat into the forest with it. It keeps the solid waste people busy, cleaning up after them. And so far they've not been able to come up with a "bear proof" mechanism to keep the bears out of the dumpsters. As soon as they tried new locks, the bears learned to simply lean on the dumpsters until they tip the entire unit on its side, thereby springing the lids.

Here's a small sculpture I made several years ago to give as a gift. Read my previous post (just before this one) to get the message.
