Hi...
My husband and I are contemplating moving to NM and other states from MI. Curious what places would be a good fit for a couple in there 30s no kids that are affordable and not ghost towns or too touristy? Any suggestions would be wonderful

New Mexico is a poor state without a lot of good jobs. What kind of work do you and your husband do?

Default Mich Chic

Im not sure the job market is that great anywhere but living in the center of N.M. has its pluses but the East Mountain area has Michigan type weather and its easy to get to Albuquerque and Santa Fe where the jobs are. Off course Banks have gotten so many free 100s of Billions that that might be where the Money is. There should be at least a Dozen or more Banks in the East Mountain Area. Two papers from there are the East Mountain Telegraph and the The Independent. el pintada kid

Maybe Albuquerque for manufacturing, there isn't much of that in NM. Unless he would be interested in switching to something like diesel mechanic.

Abq or the surrounding areas would probably be your best choice.

WBG, I would say Albuq, unless you guys prefer the small town life. There's much more to do in Albuq for a young, DINK couple. Fyi, BOA and BankoftheWest both have a pretty big presence on the ABQ market. My guess is manufacturing jobs in ABQ are more avail than many other parts of the country, and may well be so into the future. Just don't expect the pay you'd find elsewhere.

Probably the ABQ area. And I would also seriously consider the Phoenix, AZ area.

Default Mich to Phoenix

Im not sure Michigan Weather can compare to Phoenix Weather of 115 degrees in the summer so it will take some getting use to not to mention the Dry weather. Tucson might be a little cooler then Phoenix and Flaggstaff might have Michigan weather at times. el pintada kid

I would look in Albuquerque or Las Cruces. Albuquerque is a little cooler and snows some every year. Las Cruces is warmer with virtually no snow.
