Default New Mexico's 2008 Economic Highs and Lows

NM Business Weekly has a great article about the job losses and job gains in our state as it lists the companies who have closed and the companies that are going to hire. Although it's mainly geared in the ABQ Metro it's still a good read and i definately see more hires than layoffs in the listings. NM unemployment rate is currently 4.4% which is not bad.

Economic activity sees both highs and lows - New Mexico Business Weekly:

209 jobs created here in Clayton in 2008 with the prison opening..
Cant think of any jobs closing.
Hospital is expanding as we speak and will create more jobs too.
Unemployment was around the 2% mark here and there are plenty of jobs.
Just not enough people willing to actually work.

That's good to hear Brian !! Has the town built new housing/apts etc...for the influx of new residents. I've heard that Hobbs was in bad shape for housing/rentals with the oil industry booming there over these last several years as new workers couldn't find a place to live.

No they have not built any new apts or housing. It is a disaster in that respect. But who is able to buy right now anyway :S
It seems everytime somebody gets close to building there is a tonne of NM Red Tape to get through :S
