Question Silver City to Retire?

Hello, My husband and I want to move to a small town w/friendly people. What are the social activities happening in Silver City? Any recommendations on what neighborhoods to search for a home? Thanks and have a wonderful day.

Hi hopefaith.

There have been a lot of threads here about Silver City; perhaps you could try a search or scroll down the list of threads to find some of them. Lots of good information already there. I have learned a lot about Silver City that I never knew, and generally it is a city that many people here have positive comments about.

Good luck in your search!

From what I know, Silver City is a wonderful place to retire as long as you don't mind being somewhat isolated. I was considering retiring to SC myself, because of the temperate climate, the friendliness of the people and the artsy invironment; however I chose the lager community of Las Cruces because after living in Chicago, it would have been more diffficult for me to adjust to a small town like SC.

Default retirement location

Hello Tito, Thanks for your comments. Are you satisfied with moving to Las Cruces? I wanted to consider LC but my husband didn't like the high temepratuares which is why we considered Silver City.

Hopefaith: I'm with your husband. Silver City has a much more comfortable climate. I'm not looking forward to another hot, humid Texas summer. SC is a little colder than LC in winter, but not by too much. I'd much rather live in a smaller city, too, but that's just me.

How do you like LC so far, Tito? Enjoying your new condo and the Organ mountains?
