You live where?? "New Mexico"--
Huh...I cannot believe how many biz, hospitals, insurance companies etc., have told my wife (SuninHair) and me that they do not do business with Mexico...
We tell them we are in NEW MEXICO AND ITS LIKE "WHERE".
There are actually people out there that DO NOT KNOW That NEW MEXICO IS A STATE..
Jesh...talk about trying my short string patience at times.
Anyway...spread the news: THERE IS A STATE CALLED "NEW MEXICO"
and its a great place...

I know exactly what you are saying.
I do not know how many people asked us why we were moving to another country. Hello? Didn't these people go to school?
My biggest problem was trying to find a flight to book my cats on. One insisted that Maine to New Mexico was an INTERNATIONAL flight. I asked her several times which state was the international one. I finally gave up and said I wouldn't ever fly with them, as who knows where we would end up.
In the January issue of New Mexico, there is an article titled "One Of Our Fifty Is Missing". Its about folks living in NM dealing with people who think its a country.
As my t-shirt says...
New Mexico
..Not really new and
not really Mexico...

There is a long running article in New Mexico Magazine that is titled "One Of Our States Is Missing". Usually a hilarious read on this very subject.

I can top you mate.
I have had visitors here at my office chew me out because there was no border control between here and Texas. I would laugh but it is an EXTRTEMELY sad state of affairs when people want their passports checked coming to New Mexico.

It's happened to me as I was trying to change the address and get my health insurance changed from Texas to NM.
At first, I thought I was talking to an idiot so I hung up, called back, got someone else and this person was an idiot too. It took me about an hour of making several phone calls and getting switched to different people before I could convince them that NM is a state and not a country.
To make it worse, my health insurance is from the military so it made me wonder why the military was taking in these idiots.

Wow. Incredible stories. It's funny but one of my children's teachers wanted to talk to me because my son was telling other kids we were moving to Mexico. Now I know he knows to say New Mexico, but it's funny what people hear.

When my son was born, people in Chicago thought he needed a passport!
