Cathy, let's take some extra chairs and sit on the side of the road and watch.

Do you really think that drunks/druggies who live in that state of being, are of sound mental health? No one wants to live that way, things get out of hand and spiral out of control. Intervention is necessary, and not the kind of intervention that involves a tractor-trailer rig at 70 mph.

Going through Ancho, lots of trucks! They really need to jack the speed limit up to about 65-70 mph then. That ought to get the job done!

No I don't think they are of sound mental health but they choose to live that way.
I don't care who a person is, we all have a choice and sometimes we don't always get all the choices we want, some of us have had bad luck and some of us have had good luck and that's the way life is. WE HAVE CHOICES.
Talk about hard luck stories is someone going through something that they have no control of whatsoever, like someone going through an illness, someone losing a loved one to death, now those are the people that need and want my help and I would do anything within my power to help them but when someone chooses a lifestyle that they can control, I have no sympathy.
We all face and have faced pain in our lives. I know I have but I don't choose to go out and play the victim for the rest of my life because of it.
One of the problems with people today is that some want to play 'victim' all the time. It's time to take control of there life and live it without expecting others to feel sorry for them because of the lifestyle they have chosen for themselves.

Yes.I used to live in Vaughn. I am now in the four corners area, And yes there is a problem with the drunks. My town is building a rehabilitation facility but who is going to foot the bill? I mean come on we have the navajos and the utes coming into our community. Why don't they(there tribes) build a rehab for these people? They have plenty of revenue from those casino's. Give these people an education start, early. What really ticked me off is when I worked at the youth shelter, these kids parents would drop them off sometimes for the weekend or sometimes for months while they went on there binges. And never call or visit and then just pop in and pick them up when and if they wanted. And thats if the law didn't get to these parents first. I think when these people get caught up in the system they should be made to take parenting classes, anger management,as well as drug/alcohol classes. Get to the root of the problem. Why are these people doing this to themselves? And ,yes I am posting in New Mexico because you all have the problem too especially in Shiprock and Gallup. We are always having to scrape these people of the pavement when they cause an accident or get hit walking into town for booze or whatever.

Who is going to foot the bill? Well if you ask some, their instinctive reaction is something along the lines of: "The rich! We'll just tax em higher! After all, they didn't really earn it."

I would like to see Paris Hilton under a tree snuggled up on mainstreet with a drunks arm around her neck, especially the one who walks around with the soiled pants. lol put that on the cover of People magazine.
