Default Found something Interesting today, The 1st Book, Ever Printed in New Mexico

(If anyone can figure out why my url won't work, please post the code/url so that it's Viewable here! I'd appreciate the help very much! My URL is Correct to the 'letter', don't know what's wrong. Thank for any help. Note: Never mind, found the lead page with link on it )

I don't remember how I found it. I was just looking on line at the LOC (Library of Congress), looking for something different to read, probably in the History section?

I saw a link simply stating "The first book printed in New Mexico". Well I couldn't pass That one up!

Of course it's very old (Santa Fe 1834) and in Spanish but it's Beautiful imho.

Title is " Cuaderno de Ortografia" by Baca ( Notebook of spelling? from my translation)

It's in the Digital portion of the LOC's Rare Books and Special Collections Division

SO you can actually SEE the book (pages) and read the pages
Library of Congress Cat. Record #31019605

I hope you enjoy this little hidden jewel as I did. Don't know if this has ever been posted before but
I hope my link works and my bad mangled fingers don't mess this up. Reading was about all I could do today, helps if I don't have to hold a book or turn pages right now

Try this Link first, it's the lead page. I finally found it again Center column, in the middle of that is the link for the Book! Hooooray, I found it LOL

http://www.loc.gov/rr/hispanic

http://lcweb2.loc.gov/cgi-bin/ampage...en19605page.db

(Well DRAT! itsays the page turner can't be found!)

If we can get this sorted out, I hope we cn see it HERE!
Sorry folks

Let me know what you thought of it, if we can eventually see it. At least I found the actual lead page finally!

I personally was Thrilled.

And thanks to whom ever fxes the bugish thing with the url May not be necessary afterall

Tia Dalma- pick typing just doesn't cut it, LOL. Link found, now I can sleep LOL Oyasuminasi :

Default Link to first book printed in New Mexico

TiaDalma, thanks so much for sharing this. It's gorgeous. I didn't even know the LOC did this. What a wonderful use of technology.

Thank you Thank you ZiaAir! for fixing what ever I was doing LOL
Yes, I love the LOC, sooo much there to read and look at. I found the Digital portion a couple years ago. And then this week with the finger bit-chomp and all, I remembered it. (and my new book I ordered last week hasn't come in yet either here). How handy is that? LOL.
It's fantastic they offer these things. I just fell into it, and then this week happened on the NM book. I bout 'fainted' Staring me in the face like that
I feel sort of like an exployer when I get on that website Never know what you'll find and what New exhibits will be there. The page turner is cool, 1 finger and that's all LOL

I'm glad ya'll appreciate this book too!
