Do not forget Zuni is only 20 miles from Ramah and provides a great cultural experience. It is one of the more traditional pueblos and has not lost as much of its cultural identity as other pueblos. Zuni fetishes and silver work are known around the world along with other Zuni items. And they open up there religious ceremonies which many other pueblos do not. They just ask that you be respectful. Shalako in December is a major event. They do frown upon people who try to turn it into more then a religious event. I think they tried to start bringing in tour busses once and that kind of hurt some people's feelings. Just be respectful and they will treat you good. I taught school there for a few years and I miss it sometimes.

I heard in Ramah it might be hard to fit in if you are not Mormon. I do not know if this is true. I never spent a lot of time there but it is a beautiful area. They got a real nice school and football stadium for sure.

There is also another religious ceremony coming up within the next couple of days. This will be for two days. Starting Sunday evening and ending Monday evening. This is also open to outside visitors. Non-Indians are always welcomed to attend ceremonies. Also please be respectful and do not take any pictures or videos of Kachinas.

We lived in the Candy Kitchen area for many years. The main road into the area has been graveled and is now maintainded both by the the local
Ramah-Navajo indians and the county. We formerly lived on God's acre road. which was graveled by individuals living on the road. It is now regularly maintained by one of the residents. We still have five acres of land on the God's acre road. Electricity line fronts the property as well as telephone lines. Good water is available at about 300 feet. There are three neighbors in the immediate area all wth good wells. We would consider selling this attracive five acres of land. To view, drive up God's Acre road until you pass two iron gates on the left side of the road. The five acres begins at the end of that properties fence line. There is a forsale sign with telephone number.
