We've decided to drive from Denver to TorC the day after tomorrow. Thursday. How are the road surfaces along I-25 my friends? Lots of snow? What can we expect. Your input will be greatly appreciated. As soon as my doc cuts this cast off my arm...and pending whatever he advises...we will be heading south with our bully-boy Beowulf! NEED to see our land and dream.....

Try the Weather Channel? I would expect the road conditions to be as variable as anywhere with the worst weather in Raton Pass. Good tires and staying alert are the most important factors. Estimating what the other guys might do is the next.

Be very carefull with that hand and let somebody else do most of the driving. Good luck and let us know (as if we could stop you) about your adventures.

Looks to me like the driving conditions are pretty good except near the Colorado/NM border.

Default My Advice to Drac.

Come down 1 25 through Las Vegas and at Romeroville take 84 and come over I 40 where 84 turns into 219 to 54 from Pastura go to Vaughn and go through Vaughn And Catch 60 going to Encino and Mountainair to Bernardo and from there catch I 25 heading to Hot Springs or T.or C. This is a Quiet safe Road and lots of Rest areas or nice places to camp along the way and in my opinion its lots faster unless of course you want to visit Albuquerque and Santa Fe. My Logic is the interstate is shut down for hours sometimes because of Accidents and driving through big cities takes lots of time plus the smaller back roads are safer and you can get help easier then on the interstate plus you get to see the Country and travel at your own speed. Santa Rosa N.M. has nice RV campgrounds and Santa Rosa going through 54 to 60 to I 25 at Bernardo is 140 miles. Of Course there is an Alternative out of Vaughn take 54 to Alamogordo to Las Cruces 200 miles away and from there head north to T.or C. on I 25. el pintada kid

Or you could just take I-25 all the way. Seems like a pretty direct route to me.

If he went this way, he'd miss an opportunity to have dinner at Bobcat Bite! This burger has the ability to yank you right off of I-25:

Default 54 to the Outpost

But if Draccie took 54 to Carrizozo at the Outpost the Burgers are Twice as Big and 3 times as many fries and i like plenty of A 1 sauce and they claim to have the Best Burgers in N.M. and they are very good plus its a Bar and Museum and Large Screen TVs. Its a nice family bar. el pintada kid

Now I have to go there, because I've heard more than one person rave about that place. I've driven by it, and it doesn't seem very imposing, but the next time I drive up to Denver I am going to make it my business to grab a bite here.

I wouldn't put on A1 though! This to me would distract from the flavor of the green chile.

Agree, if they need A-1 sauce, they can't be that good.

We have a standard reply when asked "Need steak sauce?" Answer? "Not if it's cooked right!"
