Nice article in the New Mexico Business Weekly about how ''ecotourism'' in New Mexico is slowly taking off. Many people are coming here and paying adventure companies for ecotourism or outdoor adventure to see and experience the various landscapes, petroglyphs, homesteads and ghost towns as a few examples. Kind of like when people pay companies in Africa or South America to see the same sights and for adventure.
I like it and would enjoy taking part in it, as long as the 'ecotours' themselves don't damage any fragile ecosystems or let people wander around and damage petroglyphs, etc.
Ive been doing most of that all my life and showing people the Mountains and Ghost towns and Petroglyphs both Indian and Sheepherder writings which are rare and Gold Mines and Old Churches and Cemeteries and at the same time i teach about the Mountains and History of the area. Eco and Agritourism are growing pretty quickly. We are starting to see large numbers come for Star Gazing here and bird watching is slowly picking up steam.
