Renting in Silver City...
Hello! I'm wanting to move to Silver City from Niagara Falls... I won't be able to afford to purchase a house right away, so I'm gonna have to rent... Are there decent places to rent in Silver City? Any ideas on where I can start looking? Any info is truly appreciated!!
Cheers!

One word. Why?
Have you lived/visited the area before? Silver isn't for everybody, and the surrounding communities may fit your needs and wants better.

I suggest reading these threads and getting lots of info from the state and the towns before you pick a place. Moving away from Niagara Falls makes sense.

We lived in Silver City from 2004 to 2006 and while we were there we had a very hard time finding rentals. If you can live in an apartment you might be able to find something. When we left they had a ReMax and Century 21 office that did property rentals. There are very few rentals in the paper. Good luck. Forgot about Smith Realty, they probably have the most. If you go on google and put in Silver City NM property management it will bring up webpages for all 3 but Smith has the most right now. As long as you don't need a big house you should be okay.

The rental market here was very tight a year ago, but there are places available now. There are even more if you go to some of the outlying towns (Bayard, Tyrone, Santa Clara).

Rentals
I have a 3/2 for 850 and a 3/1 for 700 a month, of course if you are looking to buy I would work with you.

Hello, I am a 20 year old man considering moving to one of the small cities in NM. I am wondering how the job outlook is in Silver City for someone without a college degree. I play piano pretty well and am interested in trying to make some money playing as well. Are there venues for this? Silver City seems to be a fairly progressive community with a number of people interested in sustainability, ecological living, gardening, etc.
Also, what range are the studio or one-bedroom rental prices in?

Here I posted about Silver City and included the website of the local newspaper with examples of rents and home prices:

Hope this helps
To the poster who is thinking of moving from NY: I would say Silver City has a downtown vibe similar to any small township in Upstate NY.

Also until one of the very few Silver posters chime in to answer your questions you could contact the Chamber of Commerce there as they might be able to also assist you.
