Wazzaamatta, Kid? Got an itch? I'm not sure about the mites, but the
fleas will bite, but won't really infest a human unless you look like Sasquatch.
Around here with plague being dormant in much of the state, flea bites are not
only annoying, they can be really bad news, too.
Get out the fence repair work gloves and bathe the cat...

Don't get bitten...a deep cat bite has changed my life forever. I will never have full use of my right hand again and I'm lucky to still have it at all! When washing cats, use GAUNTLETS!!!

You can give your pet brewers yeast powder mixed in there food and the fleas will keep away. It takes a couple of months to get into there system so a good time to start is now before the summer.
You can also bathe your dog/cat and other pets with Dr. Bronners peppermint soap. It helps deter the insects.

How about using the spot application flea and tick control? You put it on each month. When we lived in GA, we had to put it on our indoor only cat each month because the fleas were so rampant they would hitch a ride in on your pant cuff. Here in NM, our indoor only cat does not need it,but now that we have an indoor outdoor dog, we will probably start treating the cat again.
And yes, cat bites are to be taken very seriously. My MIL was bitten by one of her cats when she was trying to groom or medicate her or something, and she put neosporin on it, and went to bed. The next day she went to the dr to get it looked at, and the dr told her she should have gone to the ER. It was not a bad bite, it was the bacteria in the saliva. It needs to be treated immediately.

My Wolf Dog
I have a black Wolf Dog that weighs over 100 lbs and never had a collar or anything around his neck and when he happens to get out of My Big Yard it only takes him a few minutes to come back with a cat in his mouth. >>>> Anybody have any ideas on how one can tame or get a collar around his neck when he knows somethings going on he wont get near me. I Have a heck of a time getting flea powder on him sometimes. Hes about 5 years old. P.S. when i do get the Collar around his neck will it be like taming a small horse or will he drag me all over the Yard.? The Indians breed these dogs up in the Four Corners and he is a Great Watch Dog and one Bark and no one gets near my fence. el pintada kid

Advantage for Cats or something like that.
Go to the Vet.. spend 40 bucks for a three month supply. Put a little bit of that on the back of your cat and BLAM! No fleas.. and Advantage kills the fleas AROUND your lil dude as well.
Works like a charm for my 2 lil dogs.
