Also the new Spaceport is being constructed about 25 miles south of T or C which may help to contribute to the T or C economy in the future.

Not a problem 6/3 - appreciate the response.
By the way, I happened on some of your photos while looking up Las Cruces. Looks beautiful...but VERY DRY. Maybe I'm just used to all the green in the midwest & not certain I'd be able to handle desert long-term. On the other hand the isolation is somewhat appealing. Don't get me wrong, I'm not opposed to neighbors (with a little separation of course) but I'm comfortable with my own company and don't require a lot of entertainment.
I've got a lot to consider don't I...talk about understatement.

Wow highdesertmutz, you are a wealth of info! I tilted my head and thought for a second about the RV/travel trailer idea but I don't think that's me. Plus I doubt I'd be able to back one up. I seem to have a back-up issue...sometimes can't even back my SUV into the garage straight!! But I can move like heck going forward!

Yeap its the desert out here as it's constant desert from the mojave in california across to the sonora in arizona to the chihuahua desert in new mexico all the way over to the outskirts of san antonio.
There are some green places to escape to as the bosque along the rio grande is very geen all along it's banks for miles and miles and also the north valley las cruces has miles of trees and mesilla park and stahman farms to the south of las cruces has trees so thick it looks like little north florida.

The spaceport is being constructed by the state of new mexico south of T or C for 200 million dollars to launch tourists in space in 2010 and one of the companies who will use it is virgin airlines/virgin records and it's billionaire owner Richard Branson from the U.K.
When completed it will hire people in the high tech and space aviation industry and also will have several factories in las cruces to build components for the rockets and look very futuristic.

Hmmm......COOL!!!
I just got back from a week at Cocoa Beach in January and having spent 2 days at Kennedy Space Center. Saw the Boeing Delta 4H launch from my hotel balcony about 15 minutes after check-in.
