Question Crime among southern border towns??

Howdy,

I love New Mexico and have traveled their a few times. I am curious if cities/towns in southern NM have had serious issues with crime from Mexico. For instance, locations like T/C, Las Cruces, Deming or Ruidoso. I'm not one to believe or let's just say I take what news articles/national media say about border crime with a grain of salt.

I can imagine this topic has been discussed in detail, so forgive me for re-posting..

Thank You!

The towns you've mentioned are not really border towns. el paso, texas is more a border town. and we don't worry about that anyway, with the decline in the economy, it might be apparent that illegal immigrants are flooding back to mehico to escape our woes. I've heard douglas arizona is having a time of it though.
we, T or C people are not really having a problem, we have border patrol agents swarming all over the place though.

I would not consider Ruidoso a border town. We have many wonderful folks from Mexico that come to this area to vacation with their families. They are most welcome here.
