I dont wanna see someone taking a crap in public, its natural but dont mean they should just go ahead and do it, I also dont wanna watch someone have sex in the produce isle cause its natural to do it.
Come on. Taking a crap in public/having sex in the produce isle are health hazards, illegal, and NOT something that other people engage in with impunity. Showing affection in public towards the one you love is something that people who are not gay get to take for granted. Without being told it's disgusting, or running the risk of getting beaten up or worse.
I personally wish that I never had to see baseball players spit on their bating gloves. It's the most disgusting thing I can imagine. Turns my stomach every time.

In my opinion and that is all it is, an opinion, what you are talking about and what Desert Sun is, are two different things. I may be an old lady, but I prefer not to watch public displays of affection as well. I am not talking about holding hands, I am talking about passionate affection and I really don't care who is doing it...

Nita
Right on Nita. You need to say what I say....."get a room". LOL
When we were at the airport waiting to pick up our daughter in Oct, this yound couple were obviously trying to "do the dirty" in the waiting area, and they did not care who was there.
I am not a prude by any means, but there is a time and place for some things. And that was not the time of place. So I chimed in with "Get a freaking room"! Think it embarrassed my dh but I am not known for being tactful at times.
There is a difference between displaying signs of affections in public vs 'doin the dirty'....I agree there is a place and time for everything, and had it been me in the airport, I probably would have felt and said the same thing....however, that being said, I think that showing signs of affection in public should be a right, no matter what your sexual orientation is. In this day and age, with all we have to be concerned about, I think we have bigger fish to fry than being concerned about who's kissing who..

a lot of things may be our rights but they can still be in poor taste. I have a right to take my kids or grandkids to any restaurant and let them scream. I am paying for my meal, but I also should respect others and their feelings.
As I said, I might be an old lady, but no one who knows me would ever call me a prude and I still say keep you hands and lips to yourself in public.
When I was in the Air Force, we were stongly urged not to show PDA (public display of affection) I think there was a UCMJ (uniform code of military justice) rule governing public display of affection. do we, the general public need our states telling us when and where we can kiss, or enjoy each other's companionship? I don't think so. if people become well involved, I think it's in their best interest to go to a private place, behind closed doors and do what they want to do. this is my opinion for civil unions too. what we do behind closed doors in our own privacy is our own business, and we do not need our government interfereing with our lifestyles. the state of new mexico does not recognize civil unions at the present time, but there is a governor election coming up soon, so, who knows? maybe the civil union bill will be re-introduced once again. I for one do not see a problem with civil unions.
I don't have a problem with 'civil unions' either, as long as having them available doesn't automatically preclude gay people marrying. I think they should have every opportunity to be just as miserable as the rest of us.
All unions are civil unions and should be recognized as such. Marriage should be a civil union sanctified by a religious ceremony. I know several couples who have had their relationship sanctified by a church when the state does not recognize it.
In fact, I do not see why a same sex couple (or more) cannot enter into a contract of commingling of assets and future joint operations and shared responsibilities, etc, register the contract at the court house, find a clergyman of their choice and to hel with the governments sanction.
