we also have commisioners like griggs that will abuse his power to close a business if it suits him.. not saying he does this, just heard it from the code enforcement cop he told to do it this happens everywhere right? I'm posting this to see how long it takes to get shut down.. sent the links out for friend to watch this.. if you know of any more secret illegal dealings this city is doing, feel free to post it.. eventually they will be caught and prosecuted..

How about some paragraphs for starters.

Well the citizens voted yesterday to expand and renovate the waste water facility and also voted down the library so now what's the problem? The road bonds did pass though which is supported.

As for the cookie factory (Marrietta cookies) which is open on Lavelle Rd the State of New Mexico (Economic Dept) gave most of the money to reopen the plant along with Pre Check Inc. out at Mesa Verde on the northern By-Pass like they've done ALL over New Mexico like the new companies relocating to Rio Rancho, Las Cruces and Albuquerque's Mesa Del Sol etc.

As for the commissioners being problematic....you'll have no argument here as i too have been frustrated with many of them since the mid 80's but we have the right to vote them out of office which is what happened at the last city elections as Steve Brockett is now Mayor along with a new City Manager as Pat McCourt is out which i believe is good for Alamo.

I agree. The two most important ones passed--roads and the aging water facility.

We could use a new/renovated library, but the wording bothered me on that one. It alloted money, but it left it up to the commissioners as to which choice would be implemented.

They should have let the voters choose both the funds and how that money was to be spent.

It looks like they are probably going to have to let the old IGA building go back to the estate.

I agree 100 % about the only 2 good projects passed as the Flag Pole bond issue was just idiocy and as far as the library they could shut it down as far as i'm concerned as you can read about anything on the internet and maybe libraries will just disappear like movie rental places did.

LOL....was that you i seen over at the new mcdonalds .

I didn't know they even had libraries in most places anymore. Like you said, if someone has the internet, why have a library.
What I'd like to see is a used/half price book store. I like Hastings but would rather not pay 25 bucks or so for a book I can get for 2 bucks at a discount store. Not that I'm a cheapskate but there's certain things I'll pay full price for and books aren't one of them.
Next time you're in the area 6/3, let some of us know and we can all meet for lunch.
NLmott needs to meet up with some of us.

Oh thats sad. I love the library and it is not the same reading on the internet as it is sitting down with a good book. I sure hope it doesn't disappear they have good programs for the pre-k age and the summer reading programs. There are also alot of people in this town that do not have access to the internet judging by everytime I go to the library no matter what time of the day it is their computers are usually full. We also have several kids in my sons class that have to use the library for research. So I would really hate to see the library close, for those of us who love to read it is nice. It would be a sad day indeed if they closed it.

We have a used book store here in the Granada Shopping Center, granted they are all paperbacks.

LOL!!! Uh...no!! Never been!

The so-called flagpole, watersprayer-whatever and that junk was just ridiculous...but I don't agree about the library! I don't think they'll be disappearing anytime soon!

O.k. your right as that would be to harsh to close them as they are great for folks or kids who don't use the internet but i really wonder if they'll die out over the next 10 to 15 years kinda like we see newspapers dying out (sad).

I admit that i think it would be neat to have the Flag Pole they were proposing as it would have been 150 ft tall (15 stories) but that would never pass on a bond election as i knew it would fail .

Street repair and other items are far more important.

I think that the flagpole should be privately funded.
