We can have a freeze in June, but, I have started getting the soil ready, setting up more fence..(more deer around now and rabbits)...
But getting it all ready...will take me a month to do.
And then start some seeds in the outbuilding....

Rhubarb is up as well as some garlic.

Maybe start some root vegies in April...

We are at 6800'...

Would like to hear your tips re fertilizer etc. I like to use Chicken stuff if I can get it..

HW...

I was told May 15 to make absolute sure the freeze is over.

Depends on what you are talking about. Trees and hardier shrubs can be planted now through April. My daffodils are already starting to come up, so I need to tend to them right now. I am already putting down more compost, and have planted my peas. In a couple of weeks, I will plant lettuce, spinach and maybe beets. There are some plants that enjoy cooler weather, and you can put them in now.

Roses need to wait until all danger of frost is past in Santa Fe, May 15, or a little earlier if you want to try to cheat a bit. I have most of my roses in big containers placed in deep holes. In winter, I dig em up and bring em inside, unless they are wild, then I let them fend for themselves.

Does anyone know if rabbit doo will harm our small patch of grass? There are little brown nuggets all over, and the grass is starting to green...?

here in NWA as well. Hubby was getting my beds ready today and will work on them this week. I will probably start planting seeds in about 3 weeks. If we have any frost after than it won't be that much and the seeds will barely be strouting..They have tomatoes in now as well, but I won't put any plants out for about 6 weeks. It is about the same as I did in NM. Living a little south of ABQ we started about the first or middle of April. A few years we lost tomoatoes, but most of the time they survived..

I'm expanding my garden. I will add start adding a spot pretty soon. Have to move some gravel first then I will prep the soil. Onions are in. The weather is so nice it's gonna be hard to wait to may 5th to get everything planted.
