My wife and I are considering moving to Angel Fire area, but we are concerned about the schools in this area. Does anyone know anything about this school district? Our children are 6 and 8 years old. Thanks
Angel Fire is part of the Cimarron Municipal School District. The district includes the towns of Angel Fire, Eagle Nest, Ute Park, Cimarron and the surrounding county. Angel Fire's elementary and mid-school children attend Eagle Nest Elementary/Middle School in Eagle Nest. This school sits on the shore of Eagle Nest Lake. The high school students attend Cimarron High School located in Cimarron or the Moreno Valley Charter High School in Angel Fire sitting on 90 acres of donated land.
Cimarron Municipal School District was one of the first districts in the nation to implement a four day per week school week. It works well with parents, teachers and students alike. The school runs from Aug. - May, Tues. - Fri. 8am - 4pm, meeting or exceeding the state requirements for instructional hours.
I noticed that to buy in Angel Fire you also have to pay a $1200-1500 a year "association fee" if you will. This is for roads repairs, and also gets you a pass to use the Ski resort at a discount etc..
Does Eagle Nest have that as well? Thats a large amount when you figure your taxes might already be $2000 a year.
This is one reason we are torn from moving to this area rather than NE Washington or Montana. TAXES AND FEE's!
We are wanting to build a small cabin and have just began our hunt recently. We have narrowed it down to Angel Fire, Eagle Nest and NW Montana, also NE Washington.
Any push for the NM region would be greatly appreciate. The up side is only a 9hr drive from our home here in Phoenix.
This is just a 4 month summer home we are looking for.

You were probably looking at property located within the recorded subdivisions of Angel Fire Resort which is an association and has membership dues or assessments.
I don't know if Eagle Nest has any communities which have these fees. They are commonly called Homeowners Associations. I would try searching the internet or contacting a few real estate people.

Angel Fire does have fees..... however, those fees include unlimited golf, tennis, lift passes & use of facilities at the country club. You do have to pay extra for massages.
Rich is exactly correct. We have a place in Angel Fire and those are the association fees for properties within the recorded resort area (generally those areas wihtin about a 4-5 miles radius of the ski area). There are areas within the village that are not in the resort area. What you get directly for those fees depends on the level you select, ranging from small discounts on golf and skiing to free. The resort is the general marketer of the Angel Fire area, so the fees also support drawing tourists to the area.
I doubt that Eagle Nest has anything like that. I really like it, but it is cold in winter!
