Exclamation I cannot recommend any dentists in LC or NM

I am sorry, but not only have I been warned many times against going to any local dentists (or any in NM) but that same warning extended to orthodontists.

One ortho in particular is known amongst other orthos in the Southwest for being a butcher (ie: unnecessarily removing teeth instead of doing his mechanical engineering - if he had any courses, which are required, btw).

As far as my sources, two in particular have family roots in southern NM going back to the 1800's and part of their families former properties is now HAFB and Lincoln National Forest. My sources have impeccable reputations.

Being that your spouse was a dentist, its understandable that you would choose to defend his colleagues.

Nonetheless, others, particularly patients, are not so inclined.

Wow. You are spreading around some of the most asinine, one sided tripe this side of the Mississippi! Please, your sources are incredibly misinformed. Saying that all dentists/orthodontists in the state of New Mexico are no-good, is bologna. They come from all over the globe, many from California probably.

Everyone I've known who's gone to a dentist or orthodontist in NM is none the worse for it. Unless your sources have had enough dental work to require visits to every dentist and orthodontist in the state, I just don't see how such statements can be made.

Wow, what a bold statement about NM dentists. Good thing most people don't just take a few people's word on things when making decisions on health care or anything else.

if the op EVER comes back (doubtful) I have something to show her

This Realtor.com listing, combined with a mortgage calculator for 3% down (VA style mortgage) and an E-5 with dependents BAH rate of $910 per month gives a mortgage payment (without taxes and insurance -but those are pretty low esp on a new house) shows an E-5 can swing it in Alamo. and the house does not look that bad at all.

Nicer than our first home 20 min from Moody AFB, where it was cheaper to buy than rent. I suspect that might be the case for Alamo as well.

*shrug* maybe its in a ghetto? But it seems OK to me.

Hi Rybert:

If you and the others posting after you read my post correctly, I posted that I could not rec any dentists in LC, Alamo, or NM.

[MOD CUT] The moderators will decide what is considered to be spamming...Thank-You

All I know is what people have told me from their personal experience.

Not bragging, but in my defense, my other sources include a newspaper publisher, newspaper editor, 2 United States Attorneys, an orthodontist who is in the top 1 percent of the nation, and a District Attorney, among former patients. These people are in addition to the others I made reference to.

Interesting, how I didn't get any negative personal attacks when I referred young mom 09 to certain sources for hair & makeup.

In any event, since my post was for young mom 09 and the other new moms to HAFB, they will most likely go to base docs and dentists and with the big expansion at WSMR, more military base dentists/orthos will be serving personnel there.

Take care and try not to get too upset.

~Cali-girl

Hi lisdol:

From what I understand, and from my own personal experiences, most do not return to CD due to the personal attacks.

I think one previous poster expressed the noteworthy view that some just come to vent, and that's OK with me, I don't get invested in online personalities although many, it seems, here do. Maybe becasue they have lots of time on their hands, not sure, but that is what I suspect.

Instead of hearing people out and offering practical suggestions, instead this is common:

"Why don't you just leave?"
"Get out, we don't want your type here anyway!"
"This is a lovely place, I think its wonderful and you're just making it all up."

It may be well to remember that lots of people read these posts and can come away with a conclusion different than what you expect....

Now, perhaps you can, but the Mods may construe that as spamming.

We read it correctly... "I am sorry, but not only have I been warned many times against going to any local dentists (or any in NM) but that same warning extended to orthodontists."

An unaswerable platitude. Based on what, imaginary friends?

I'm sure your opinion on Architects/Engineers follows suit... don't hire a New Mexican one.

And between them, these esteemed associates of yours have been to every dentist and orthodontist in the state, and are thus qualified to rate every dentist and orthodontist accordingly? I'm sorry, but that requires quite a leap of faith.

I know you're from California, and much more worldly and sophisticated than any of us, but spare us the condescension.
