Ooops. It's easy for me to get Rostesiabad confused.

The Pecos runs east of all the communities, until you get to Carlsbad which is built, primarily, on the west bank. Presidents Park is on the east bank.

The reason all those communities are on the west side of the Pecos, is that that is where all the small rivers come from. They originate in the mountains and flow east to the Pecos. There are no sources of water coming from the east. So the ranchers built their spreads where there were several small streams that provided water to the cattle. That is why there are those nice little towns between Roswell and Artesia.....Hagerman, Dexter, Lake Arthur, etc.

If I were going to work in Artesia, I would probably be looking for a place outside of Lake Arthur or Hagerman.........but I tend to be more country oriented than city. I would probably not go as far north as Hagerman because of all the feed lots and dairy herds.

Yeah that's the truth. I thought it was a foreign country when I had to live there.

The smell is very noticeable and bothersome. I've spent time there and it is horrible to me. There is even a billboard driving into town saying "The Sweet Smell of Success".

Default yucccckkkkkkkkkkkky

My mom and 3 brothers live in that crappy little town, I have a problem just going to visit my 75 yr old mother cuz there is nothing to do there, the water is crap, the smell is horrible, and it's a dustbowl. My parents raised me in Albuq NM, which is another poor excuse for a town, why anybody would want to live in NM is beyond me. Good luck if you decide to move your children there

All i know about Artesia is they are the football kings of the State! Bulldog Bowl, which is the football stadium is unbeliveable for a high school. With 26 State Titles, Artesia is the football town of the state.

for sure their stadium is unbelievable, we were there for my son's track meet and it is nice. They are definately football oriented, makes you think of Texas high school football.

I beg to differ... Las Cruces is the football king/town of the state . Artesia would be #2, Roswell #3, and Clovis #4.
