You seem so mature for your age, (meant as a compliment)
But, you would be excellent material for the jobs at Indiana State Parks, they're always looking for young, bright people.

I know of at least two people in the Black Range District office who, at the age of 18 joined the forest service, and have been with the forest service all of their lives, some are 50+ years old now.

You can't go wrong securing a government job and sticking with it, it does have benefits and job security.

Thank you

I will most definetly check into that. I would love to work everyday in the outdoors.

I am actually wanting to work with the Indiana State Police. I have wanted to be a police officer since I was like 4.

Presently, the salary for a Indiana Trooper is like 32k to 39 k, I guess this wage is for entry level or some individuals with some experience. It's not too bad, but, you have to be careful in any LE job.

My buddy dracul, was seeking a deputy job here in Sierra County New Mexico, but the starting wage was only about 18k a year, which is probably about 1/2 or less of what it should be. That's an awfully low wage for sticking one's neck out. I don't know why the deputy starting wage is so deflated around this area.

Any LE job is going to be dangerous.

If I were a smart person, I would've stuck it out when serving in the Air Force, I only had 14 years more left, I'd been retired with a pension now. My cumalative gov't service equals nearly 12 years, but it is not consecutive.

I kind of envy you for having so many options to choose from.

I know I will definetly be careful. Is Sierra County a very populated place? Maybe that's why it is so low?

you envy me

I think I will have a pretty good resume.

I am in the Police Explorers program and will enlist in the Army Reserves this summer.

Think back. 14 years was hard to imagine at that time... I remember waiting for 25 just so my auto insurance rates would go down.

I can't figure why a deputy's salary would be soooo low anywhere, one would think that there would be a National Standard. After all, people who choose this career field are putting their lives at some risk serving and protecting.

Army Reserves? I hope you do not end up in you know where.

Envy yes. If I could only have had a crystal ball to see into the future. I would have done some things differently. Hind sight is 20/20.

Yes Pancho nm, anticipation and waiting. Waiting to reach age 18, now to be of legal adult age. Waiting to reach age 21 to have a beer or drink wine legally. Waiting to reach age 25 for lowered auto insurance rates.

At the age of 18, sitting with my draft card in hand, watching TV, waiting for my number to be called for service in Viet Nam.

It's all a waiting game, it's anticipation
