Is anybody else suddenly unable to view the New Mexico Upcoming Events thread? I'm getting an invalid link notice and I've already notified the site administrator.

Is there a new thread yet for "New Mexico Upcoming Events - 2016?" I found one for 2015, but not this year.

Here is an interesting annual event that doesn't get that much publicity outside of the southern NM region. Even though it's held in the spring, before hot weather arrives, it's still a grueling ordeal for those who run or walk the entire marathon distance of 26 miles. It's nothing like running on paved streets even though there is a roughly graded "track" through very rocky terrain.

Article on this year's event - March 20, 2016

Unfortunately, I didn't think to post this earlier. Registration for this year's event ends today (3/12).

Default Tumbling Tumbleweeds...

As happens every spring in these forums, there are presently threads running in both the NM general and Albuquerque forums with videos of blowing dust and debris, including tumbleweed grievances.

I'm posting this here because it's not strictly New Mexico, but it is one of the best videos I've seen of what happens in tumbleweed infested areas when strong winds blow. It's easy to overlook the sand blowing across this road while focusing on the tumbleweeds. This was filmed somewhere in the Mojave Desert in an area where there was likely extensive farming at one time.

This story made the news a couple of days ago:

While searching for this story I found a number of other articles about the success some people have had selling tumbleweeds, including this one from 2014:
