Cloudcroft is supposedly open now, but I haven't been up to check it out yet. They don't have much of a base now.
Probably still very long lift lines and crowds at Ski Apache, and it's likely to be that way until school starts for the spring semester. Hopefully conditions will be good toward the middle/end of Jan.
I guess Cloudcroft will never be the same like in the ol' days and as for up at Ruidoso i thought i heard on the radio station i listen to that Ski Apache has an 70'' base .... does that sound about right??
Their site says 36" midway...season total 78". But the standard cam isn't working in real time...again.
Might be good up there (Ski Apache) now, but I'm not one to stand in a 45-minute lift line, especially with $51 ticket prices LOL!
I have never been up to CC for skiing....should be interesting if I make it up there this year. I'm about ready to just get in the car and drive on up to Durango, where you can usually count on really good conditions!
Regardless, I am enjoying the winter in Alamogordo! This is what winter should be! :-)
Construction update for Alamogordo for those interested:
They finally broke ground on North Scenic Drive from NMSU to North Florida ave as they have all the orange barrels and graders out there as they are widening it from 2 to 4 lanes and also will add a walking trail and landscaping etc. as that will be really nice once completed.
They're starting to pour concrete on the foundation for the new 2 story bank on Tenth St. and Cuba Ave.
Looks like they are completed on the reconstruction on West First St. from White Sands Blvd to the By-Pass as they will open it up in february.
I've also noticed that new housing construction is picking up since the housing crises in 2008 as they are building new houses just south of the Motel 6, South of the Golf Course and also out at Mesa Verde on the northwest side of the city.
A couple of big road projects that have been approved by NM DOT but are on hold because of the state's 500 million deficit are Lavelle Rd reconstruction from Holloman Highway to West First St. and also Hamilton Rd reconstruction from Panorama Rd to the Golf Course.
Roads to Timberon are very clear - at this time..LOL
3M had lots of tubbers and snowmobiles going this last week-end. Kids looked like they were having los of fun on the tubes.
That's what I keep hearing but why would so many people want to eat something that tastes so bad?
I heard it takes on the taste you cook it with so my first thought was either to fry it up with some bacon or dip it in chocolate.
Seriously, I thought the stuff was healthy and now that the holidays and potlucks are over, I need to start eating healthy food again so I thought I would give this a try.
I don't think any soy products are healthy, and I mostly stopped eating tofu several years ago.
It has no taste, and it does absorb the flavors of whatever it's cooked with.
It's an ingredient in hot and sour soup, which I love, so I will still eat that occasionally. If it's firm tofu, it's easy to cube it and add to stir-fries.

If they're (soy products) aren't healthy, how come they (stores) sell soy milk? Is soy milk supposed to be a dietary supplement or something. I don't know, that's why I'm asking.
