I would really do my homework before buying a house in T or C. Most of my
friends have their houses up for sale and I also have my house up for sale
so there should be plenty of houses on the market at this time. There do not
seem to be as many low priced houses for sale as there were in the past
but I'm sure you can find something. It's basically a low budget retirement
town with quit a few hippies thrown into the mix. There are quite a few
artists as well but I've lived in towns with much more acomplished artists
and the gallery scene has really gotten smaller in the last two or three
years. I think people find T or C a mixed bag and you either love it or hate it.
Shopping does suck and medical really sucks but if you don't mind driving
to Las Cruces or Albuquerque you will be fine. The weather isn't bad at
all but a little to hot for me in the summer. I love the winters here but
I personally would like a little more snow. I just looked at realtor.com
and it seems there are a lot of smaller houses in the 70 to 80 thousand
dollar price range which is pretty low so good luck finding what you are
looking for.
