The Sams club might do good since you got all the people in the surrounding small towns but I think Clovis would still be too small for a Target. The Target in Rio Rancho and Farmington are really slow and both serve alot more people.

Thats very true abt those Targets...Sams Club will be a great fit..Nick Greigo constuctions just announced that there will be 27 new streets added to the area..And so far they have to build around 700 houses by the end of this year if houses are being sold the way they are

We have been stationed and living in Clovis/Portales for almost a year. I have heard so many fricken rumors about a Target and an Olive Garden to make me shiver with happiness and then remember, ITS JUST AN OLIVE GARDEN AND A FRICKEN TARGET... lol
We get what we can get, and we are happy about it.
It is so fricken bad when you move from Europe and are happy to have the "normal" stores nearby, and then to find out that you do NOT have them within a 30 min drive. (aka "Just drive to Lubb, Amm, or Ros")
Makes me want to get out of here ASAP, even more so than before!
It makes one be very thankful for the Bestbuy they have "Just down the street"! I still order ONLINE as much as I did when we lived in Germany... which is kinda sad to think about it.

I spent several years living in Clovis growing up and still go back about 3 times a year because all my family still live there.
We were there a couple of weeks ago and my sister drove me around to show me all the new construction and businesses that have gone in since last Thanksgiving. I could not believe how fast Clovis is growing. I did notice they sure needed more affordable homes and apts. I know that a lot of people from there could no way afford to live in the newer homes they are building. My sister said the raise in housing cost are really hurting the locals as much or more than the military families.
The one thing I would like to see is Main St restored. As a teenager we had so much fun "dragging Main". Of course that was a few years ago ( I won't say how many, LOL). But it was before gangs and drugs.
As far as the shopping, I live in Texas in a very rural area so Clovis is great place to shop for me. I hate driving to larger towns with really bad traffic (example, Austin Tx). I am thrilled to see Clovis triving and growing. Plus it is nice to know they are looking beyond dependence on Cannon as the only source of support.
