"Mud Day" at the Old San Ysidro Church: Corrales. Saturday, April 24, 2010, 9am-4pm
Mud Day - 1991
The Preservation and Maintenance Committee sponsors an event which has come to be called Mudders’ Day Weekend. Friends and neighbors come together to help mix and apply adobe mud to the walls of the Old Church and attend to any other details of restoration that need doing. Anywhere from 30 to 50 people have come to volunteer and there are jobs for everyone of whatever age. A great lunch is provided by the Historical Society Docents and everyone seems to enjoy this shared experience of caring for the Old Church.
There is also a rodeo at the Sheriff's Posse place in Bernalillo this weekend.
And, a horse show at Top Form Arena in Corrales. Points show for Appaloosas. I am definitely going to that. Am also going to Founders Day Fiesta in Old Town, if I can get the family away from the Park 'n The Park early.
Today thru Sunday was "supposed" to be the annual Kite Festival in Ruidoso. With blowing snow as of this typing, not many kite fliers are likely to be out and about today. No shortage of gusting winds though!
Kite festival was canceled for this weekend and no word on whether or not it will be rescheduled. A tent that had already been erected blew over today in gusting winds, with minor injuries to some people who were there.
