oh, I forgot the ABQ to Texas border and on into Texas. We did this a hundred times when we lived in ABQ and would go to OK or TX to see the kids...yep, pretty bad. I don't know which is worse, mid summer or in a snow storm...At least in the snow storm it certainly can't really be called boring.

That is a bad road trip and infact i last drove it in 2005 in august as i went from Tucson to Las Cruces as that was a god aweful drive and all i could think about was stopping every 40 or 50 miles where there was a dairy queen and eating ice cold yummy blizzards as it was super hot (117 tucson) during that drive .

I-25 from Cruces to Fe. Probably because I drove it soooooo many times. I prefer ANY two laner to the interstate. I think they're just more interesting because you're closer to the side and going a little slower. You're more likely to see some sort of wildlife too, my No. 1 reason.

I love driving all of those "boring" roads you all have mentioned. I've found that the best way to enjoy them is to keep your speed at least 20mph above the posted limit, have satellite radio as previously mentioned, and carry at least one firearm with several hundred rounds of ammo.

If you see a big white 2009 F250 running southbound on I-25 somewhere between Albuquerque and LC this weekend with the radio blaring old rocknroll and a smiling guy firing out the window at rocks and cans, please don't call the cops. Just wave and enjoy the ride.

And please don't drink and drive!

yep, we did it in August as well and yep, we stopped at a DQ.

As for the drive up 25, I happen to think it isn't bad at all, especially in the middle of the summer about monsoon time. The mountains are pretty, the mesas and you can even see water in a few places.

Rio Rancho to VA hospital... Probably done it a hundred times but can never remember the milage (20 miles?). Takes between 45 to 90 minutes to get there and 3 to 4 hours to get back cause I goof off and wander around.

That one hour drive from Tucumcari to Santa Rosa on I-40 just always seems bad for me.

One more thing and I hope this doesn't make any of you too mad, but my wife loves country music and that could be part of the problem, as some of the stations seem like they only have a 10-20 song play list.

OMG, I hear that one. That's why I love my satellite radio or custom-made CDs......

I love the drive between El Paso and Carlsbad. On the other hand, the one I dread the most is the stretch between Roswell and Vaughn on 285!

The interstates across the flat parts of NM are the most boring of all.
