Smile Most Boring Drive in New Mexico

I know NM has many pretty scenic drives. I have driven many of them and plan to find some more scenic drives, but can there be another drive that is more boring than driving route 54 from Alamogordo to El Paso? Two hours of pure heck!

If there is please let me know so I can avoid it if possible.

Yes I have got one even more boring, 62/180 between El Paso and Carlsbad. I called it the trip from hell. I hated having to go to El Paso from Carlsbad, no radio service, no cell phone service and it just seemed to go on and on. Then God forbid the wind was blowing because that meant when you went through the Guadalupe Pass you got whipped around. No bathroom for miles and miles and I was traveling with 3 little boys. Thank goodness I no longer have to do that.

Don't know how much difference there is in time or distance, but, you can take 70 to Las Cruces and then I-10 to El Paso. Might break up the monotony a bit.

Wow takes you 2 hours ...... as it only takes me about an hour and 10 minutes as alamo is 65 miles to the texas state line and from there it's about 10 minutes to el paso. Plus you can listen to the el paso radio stations all the way there and back.

For me it's the 3 hour drive from las cruces to albuquerque on I-25 as that is a long boring drive and you can't pick up any radio stations for half the trip.

Clovis to Hobbs & back every week for a summer. I think that there were 2 curves in the whole road.

Tiger,

If this poster thinks that US 54 is boring, they will be doubly bored if they are driving US 70 through WSMR. Speaking for myself, I think neither one is boring. For that distinction, I'd say I-10 pretty much gets that award, between LC and Anthony, maybe because I've driven it so many times. I-25 from Las Vegas up to Wagon Mound is pretty tough to take as well.

It wasn't really 2 hours but got stuck in traffic with all the construction in El Paso, had to fill up the rental car and return it to the airport. By the time I did all that I was tired and really bored. Then to top things off our plane was 3 hours late. I think I could have driven from Ruidoso to Tempe in a little less time.

State hwy. 128 from Jal to Carlsbad. It's only 45 miles or so but there is nothing out there at all. Pretty narrow road as well although they did do a little improvement to it. Another one that qualifies is the old triple 6, now U.S.491 from Shiprock to Gallup. Don't drive that road at night AT ALL!
